Lentils & beans are both members of the legume family.... and lentils are sometimes grown in rotation with wheat in north-central Montana to put nitrogen back into the soil.... my cousin is actually making a little business out of growing organic lentils and I have to admit.... they are good.... better than the store-bought kind.... and we now have about 47 fantastic lentil recipes because he gave us a 25 pound bag of lentils.....
