Since I didn't comment on your post RE: idiots not evacuating during a fire, I just wanted to say that you hit the nail dead on the head. I have some serious issues with people who are disrespectful of wildland firefighters, and maybe that's in part because I married one too. But living on a ranch, boy howdy, do I ever appreciate them, come dry lightning and 110 degree days. /soapbox. Anyway, your kids are the spittin' image of each other in that 3rd photo. Love those piggies! OMG, did I say boy howdy??? PS I also forgot to comment on your post about the balance between hippie and redneck. I struggle with that daily-like bringing home Busch Light in my reusable grocery bags.
Your kids are so cute I'd love to squeeze their cheeks... but I bet they hate that! Yeah, I wanted to comment on the Paradise fire too. Those people should have been happy to have time to get the heck out! Putting firefighters in danger like that should be punishable by law. Regarding the phones, if phone cables or wires melt anywhere along the line from the central office, they'll short out. This will cause the phone to ring busy whether your home is safe or not. (I worked in the central office for 24 out of 30 years.)
